1:04 pm - ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition - Advanced Order!

ReBoot: The Definitive Mainframe Edition is now available for Advanced Order!

From the Shout! Factory Store:

This 9-DVD set features the complete series as well as more bonus features than your CPU can process! Plus, pre-order with us and receive a limited-edition 3D lenticular postcard only available here as our free gift to you! You can see an image of it below, but of course it doesn't do the 3D much justice. You really have to see it in person to get the full effect... and trust us, it looks fantastic!

Limited-Edition ReBoot 3D Lenticular Card

For our Canadian customers, we're offering a special shipping rate of $9.99, but due to a glitch in our mainframe (blame Megabyte) it only applies if your order contains only ReBoot and only one copy per order. Of course, you can place as many orders as you'd like!

Welcome to Mainframe. Home to Guardian Bob, formatted to mend and defend. Join the fast-paced action and adventure as Bob and his friends — Dot, her brother Enzo and his trusty dog Frisket — fend off attacks from the viruses known as Megabyte and Hexadecimal in their relentless pursuit of chaos and the destruction of Mainframe.

Known as the very first completely computer-animated half-hour TV series, ReBoot debuted in the United States on ABC’s Saturday-morning block in 1994 and has captured the hearts and imaginations of kids and gamers ever since!

Bonus Features:
  • 20-page booklet
  • Fast Forward: The Making of ReBoot
  • A Look Back at ReBoot with Co-Creator Gavin Blair
  • Original Animated Character Models

7:09 pm - Complete Series on DVD is in the works for 2011!

Yes, there's finally some news to report! We've all wanted a complete collection of all four seasons of ReBoot, right? Well it looks like we'll get what we've wanted for so long!

From the TVShowsOnDVD.com article:

Los Angeles, California and Vancouver, British Columbia - Shout! Factory and Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc. (TSX:RNK) announced today a new alliance to bring the groundbreaking, internationally renowned CGI animation TV series ReBoot to the home entertainment marketplace. Under its multi-year agreement with Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc., Shout! Factory will be the exclusive home entertainment distributor with digital rights to the entire action-packed series ReBoot in North America. This announcement was made by Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Terry Kalagian, Vice President of Business Development for Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc.

"We are thrilled with this opportunity to work with Rainmaker Entertainment, a globally recognized studio for its stunning animation in film and TV," state Shout! Factory founding partners. "ReBoot is a celebrated TV property, boasting a large worldwide fan following. This program lines up perfectly with the Shout! Factory brand. We hope this is just the start of a mutually beneficial relationship with Rainmaker."

"ReBoot fans have been urging us to release the series on DVD," said Terry Kalagian, VP of Business Development for Rainmaker. "We are overjoyed to have finally found the perfect partners at Shout! Factory to help give fans what they want."

Hailed by critics and fans alike, ReBoot made history for being the first fully computer-generated animated TV series. Its unique setting inside a computer allows ReBoot to mine the references to computers and video games for all they're worth, giving the show its humorous edge. ReBoot was originally seen on North American television in 1994 on YTV in Canada and on ABC Television in the U.S. The series ran four successful seasons, and was eventually seen in over 70 countries around the world. The innovative animation, insider humor and high octane action combine to give fans a lot of binary bang for their buck.

Dot Matrix and her brother Enzo, plus thousands of friendly binomes, live in Mainframe, which is plagued by viruses Megabyte and sister strain Hexadecimal. Guardian Bob is sent from the Net to protect them, and soon makes it his home. Together, they must prevent Megabyte from taking control of all the systems. As an added complication, games being played by the mystical User invade the system regularly, and must be defeated, or else portions of the city are laid waste... this gives us a chance to see every genre of video-game ever conceived, from the point of view of the characters! When Megabyte finally manages to banish Bob, Enzo takes over as the city's Guardian, but things will never be quite the same.

Shout! Factory plans an aggressive rollout of the ReBoot home entertainment product-line, beginning with the collectible Complete Series DVD box set release and digital distribution in 2011.

Rainmaker Entertainment Inc., a multifaceted animation studio, is one of Canada's largest producers of CG animation. With an innovative history that spans over 15 years, Rainmaker today continues to tell engaging stories and create compelling characters for all media. The studio's 200 creatively-inspired artists and storytellers are currently in development on the company's first slate of proprietary projects. Originally established as Mainframe Entertainment, the company broke ground by producing the first ever CGI animation series ReBoot. In addition to developing its own properties, Rainmaker also produces feature length DVD's for many top international brands including Barbie, Max Steele, Tony Hawk, and more. Rainmaker's clients include Mattel, The Weinstein Company, Lionsgate, Sony, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and MTV. For more information, go to www.rainmaker.com.

A guy named Brian Ward (apparently the Producer/Manager, DVD & Home Video) had this to say:
Yep. Working on 'em. This time 'round, however, I'm joined by MEGA-ReBoot fan Kristin Kennedy. Already working hard on bonus materials, both new and archival. We'll keep you as informed as we can. For now, though, rejoice in the announcement.

8:06 am - Sneak peak of ReBoot movie Guardian?

On the "Our Studio" section of the Rainmaker website there is a video titled "Have a peak inside the studio".

As you watch the video, it goes through shots of employees and also animation they're working on. We see a few clips of the Game Cube teaser trailer we saw months ago.

After "Passion" comes up, there appears to be a digital character being loaded.

Hmm... unsure right?

Look closer at the side (rotated):

Text clearly reads: "Loading Guardian".

Thoughts on this?

2:30 pm - Fic Thing

I don't remember if I ever posted this before.
If I did, feel free to ignore.

I really love trying to figure out the culture and soforth of the ReBoot world. I see the Net as the more civilized place to be, the WEB as rather barbaric and old-fashioned by comparison.

This started out as a simple exploratory and it sorta snowballed from there.
Unintentionally related to Old Apartment

6:29 pm - There is a User...and he is me.

Just joined this comm and realized this might be a good place to post some ReBoot-related ramblings. Tho if this is not the place for such as follows, please let me know.

I've long threatened on numerous occasions to write a dissertation about the concept of religion in the ReBoot universe.

Well, I finally did it.
This is the initial draft, there's a few more things I want to point out/explore, but I was itchy to get some comments on it in case I'd forgotten/missed something. ^^;

Be warned, it's a little long.

12:47 am - What's your pitch?

So with all this brouhaha about the new ReBoot pitches (here, if you're wondering), it makes me wonder: if you were to create a pitch, what would it be?

- A direct continuation of "My Two Bobs" is not possible. In fact, a direct continuation of anything, from any part of the series, even considering retcons, is not possible. I'm assuming this is due to legal matters. EDIT: As has been pointed out to me in many places, Rainmaker owns a controlling share in Mainframe, and they may own ReBoot as well. I was just unsure, since Ian Pearson and Gavin Blair are not part of the company anymore, if the story for "The Hunt" was property of them, or of Mainframe. Since none of the pitches even remotely considered a direct continuation, I figured that for some reason or other, most likely legal, the continuation was impossible.
- Characters are not to be used as they are. I don't know why, but judging from the pitch characterizations, I have to wonder if the pitch writers were under more legal constraints.
- Trilogy of films. Well, this is not so much an assumption as a given.

Feel free to write up your ideas in your own LJs, but I'd love to look at them, so if you do want to write something up, include a link in the comments or something.

This exercise has no other purpose than my own curiosity. Realistically speaking, we're probably stuck with what the Zeros 2 Heroes site has to offer. So with that in mind, feel free to let your imagination loose.

(Crossposted to my own LJ.)

The ReBoot Artbook to premiere at NY Comic-Con!

Out in the entrance lobby, the art book will be exhibited in a glass showcase.

Inside the main floor, Arcana Studios will be selling the book at Booth #759. Go over to the artist alley in the galleria, and Jim Su will be selling the book at #A344, as well as ReBoot posters, and his own comic book Crozonia.

He'll be happy to chat about ReBoot, Crozonia, (anything really!) and do free sketches.

I will be attending this convention, to hand out flyers about the Revival, and to meet up with Jim Su.

If you are within the NY area, you can find out more information, as well as buy tickets at the NY Comic-Con Website.
